Yes, I know, there’s been no new episodes in a while. I keep trying to record, but with my chest and throat problems, the results are never good enough. Today, I recorded, and I couldn’t get my voice loud enough to record properly. The attempt before that, all of the voices I did sounded exactly the same…like Forrest Gump with a mouthful of cottonballs.

This is unfortantely the downside to attempting to do readings when I often have problems with my voice. I still intend to post more episodes. I’m just not sure when my health is going to bet to the poiunt where I don’t sound sick in my recordings. I’m really sory about this. I’ve enjoyed doing these readings, and I really want to finish the story. But for now, I just can’t. Or at least, I can, and not have it sound really bad. No, I mean worse than my readings. =^P

But, as soon as I’ve recovered a bit. I’ll try again and see what happens. I know it’s not really my fault that I’m sick all the time, but I still apologize for not being able to keep up a regular schedule on my podcast. -.-

Jobe nearly injures himself while stealing a car, and he gets in a fight with his reflection. Davis returns Wendy back to Devine after Sam’s condition stabilizes,and Jamie meets her on the front porch with bad news and a bizarre revelation about Jobe. I offer many apologies about the lateness of my episodes lately, but if it isn’t my voice causing problems, I’m getting background noise that I can’t filter out. Eventually, I’ll get everything right…I hope.

Woohoo! Yes, I finally got a new episode recorded!

Here in the beginning of part two, Davis interviews Molly Crane, finding out about Jobe’s presence at the scene of Billy’s murder. He questions Wendy again, finding her just as evasive about her past, even if she seems willing to help by giving certain information out. What is she hiding?

In the conclusion of Part 1, Wendy wakes up to find her brother is suffering a relaspe of his illness. Across town, Jobe discover that he cannot steal supplies due to the increasing number of police patrols.

There won’t be a show next week. I’m taking a one week break, but I’ll get to work on part two after that.

Edit: I apologize for misinforming folks, but I’ll be taking a two week break. I’ll be in Amsterdam August 1-6 on summer vacation. But once I’m back home, I promise I’ll get back to work recording new episodes. Sorry for the mix up, but I’m a ditz, and lousy at keeping track of dates.

I apologize for missing a post last week. I was suffering from some sinus problems that made reading hard. Hopefully with the weather warming up, that won’t be a problem again for a while.

Jobe continues his exploration of Devine after visiting with Molly, and his reflection explains more of the plan for their “vacation.”

Wendy prepares dinner for her brother and takes a weak lecture from him over stealing another comic book. He notices she is dressed for a fight and gets her to talk about the phantom car which has been patrolling the town.

Wendy runs into Davis Briggs, who is all too familiar with her checkered background. Wendy warns Davis of the new threat to the town, then returns to the hunt for the ominous phantom Lincoln.

More experiments with pitch and inflection in this podcast. I’m mostly happy with the sampling rate, since it seems like a decent rate of compression without adding distortion to the recording.

This next podcast contains three sections. The first follows Jobe McKenzie’s flight from Houston, while the second part moves to Devine for the introduction of Wendy Stoffel and her brother Jamie. Wendy and Jamie sense the arrival of a new menace to the town, and their attempts to track down the threat continue in the third section.

This third reading may be a bit weird because I’m changing my voice so frequently throughout the podcast. I’m trying to work on my inflection and pace, and I’m taking some advice to try reading this as though I were looking at a person, trying to tell them the story. This is still really experimental for me, so any advice or comments are appreciated. Also, ratings couldn’t hurt. ^_^

A longer post this time, and a return all the way to the beginning of the book. I’m not sure if I’ll do podcasts of the entire book or not yet. I suppose that will depend on whether reading the first few chapters draws an audience or not.

The file length this time is 10:31, and weighs in at 6MB. It’s recorded at an 80kps 44khz sample rate, so there is some minor distortion. I’m hoping to lower the file sizes, but if this is too annoying, I’ll return to 128kbps as a sample rate.

Also, I’m taking some advice to lower my voice and speak slower, so I wonder what opinions you have about my reading voice. Again all advice and comments are appreciated, and will hopefully make future podcasts better.
